1970 | The Japan Power Plant Institute (JPPI) was founded by the government (MITI) and private sector in order to help government’s welding inspection of thermal power plants. |
1972 | JPPI as a governmental inspection organization started welding inspection of nuclear power plants. |
1974 | JPPI started evaluation services on welding design and the procedure. |
1978 | JPPI started to help MITI to carry out annual inspections of thermal power plants. |
1980 | JPPI started to help MITI to carry out annual inspections of nuclear power plants |
1984 | MITI designated JPPI as an authorized organization for welding inspection of thermal and nuclear plants, and for annual inspection of thermal plants. |
1985 | The name was changed from JPPI to the Japan Power Engineering and Inspection Corporation (JAPEIC). |
1987 | JAPEIC established Nondestructive Evaluation Center (NDE Center) in Yokohama. |
1995 | JAPEIC started to provide training school on nondestructive inspection and seminar on Electric Utility Law and Nuclear Regulation Law. |
1997 | Management System & Product Certification Center of JAPEIC was accredited by Japan Accreditation Board (JAB) for welding and ISO-QMS/EMS certifications. |
2000 | The revised Electric Utility Law authorized JAPEIC to carry out safety management audit for thermal power plants. |
2003 | JAPEIC became one of the authorized safety management audit organization for thermal power plant under the newly revised Electric Utility Law. JAPEIC also started to help nuclear plant owners to carry out welding inspection. |
2004 | NDE Center started training school on Nondestructive Inspection. |
2006 | NDE Center began training school on Performance Demonstration Evaluation. |
2008 | JAPEIC started to confirm welder performance qualification and welding procedure specification under Electric Utility Law and Nuclear Regulation Law. |
2013 | JAPEIC extended to confirm welder performance qualification and welding procedure specification in the field of nuclear fuel manufacturing and reprocessing. |
2017 | METI authorized JAPEIC to carry out safety management audit on wind power plants and fuel cell plants as well as thermal power plant. Note: MITI: Ministry of International Trade and Industry of Japanese government (till 2001) METI: Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japanese government (after 2001) |
